Roderick L. Ireland
(born 1944)
Justice Ireland was appointed to the Boston Juvenile Court in 1977, and to the Massachusetts Appeals Court in 1990. When he was appointed to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court by Governor Argeo Paul Celucci in 1997, he became the first African American to serve in that capacity.
