Barbara A. Dortch-Okara
(born 1949)

Judge Dortch-Okara was appointed to Boston Municipal Court in 1984 by Governor Edward King, and Associate Justice of the Superior Court in 1989 by Governor Michael Dukakis. In 1998, Judge Dortch-Okara was appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to serve as the Chief Administrative Justice of the Massachusetts Trial Court, the first African American and the first woman to hold that position.
