Description

Letter, June 25, 1775, from Private Peter Brown in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to his mother, Sarah Brown, in Newport, Rhode Island. Private Brown, who came from Westford, Massachusetts, served under Colonel William Prescott at Bunker Hill. Brown, who describes himself as "hearty in the cause," filled his letter with details; it is the fullest account of the feelings and observations of a participant in the ranks.

See Colonel William Prescott's letter to John Adams, August 25, 1775, for an account of the same events by the commander of the expedition.
