JA approved the consortium’s plan in a letter of 28 April, with which he also sent his letter of 24 April enclosing the ratified contract for the 1784 loan (both LbC’s, APM Reel 107), for which see JA’s 24 April 1785 letter to John Jay, note 1, below. The consortium replied to both letters on or about 4 May (Adams Papers, filmed at May 1785), thanking him for the contract and indicating that it would immediately insert advertisements in the newspapers regarding the payment of interest.
