This project employs the approach of "Commodity Chain Analysis" and explores production, transaction, transportation, and consumption of tea in China and the United States. MHS hold collections of American China traders, which document American merchants' commercial activities in China, Japan, as well as Europe, and elaborate how their tea business connected the Atlantic and Pacific worlds.
