SAVE A TREASURE!
Help us restore this newly acquired portrait of Alexander Hamilton
A recent donation to the MHS, this portrait is in desperate need of repair. Without conservation, it cannot be shown or hung for visitors to enjoy. Although the portrait appears to be structurally sound, the likeness is significantly compromised by blisters, raised and flaking paint, and discoloration throughout. The treatment recommendation includes a thorough cleaning, resetting of the paint, and application of varnish. The portrait will be on view during Revolutionary Portraits on November 17 and guests will have the opportunity to contribute to its conservation.
