    In this eight-page letter to a friend, Abraham Lincoln articulates his closely guarded personal feelings about slavery, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the future of the Union should slavery be extended into the new territories. Prior to the Civil War, Lincoln rarely committed his thoughts about slavery to paper.
